This week saw our Roosters ? hit the oval again to train. Currently training are the girls (Mon and Wed), junior (Thurs and Sat) and Senior Colts (Tues and Sat) plus the senior men (Tues & Thurs).
The Mini’s and Moddies are still working out how they can return to training. As you may be aware we are restricted to groups of 10 and required to maintain hygiene protocols and physical distancing.
With the young kids we recognise some of these protocols and requirements are harder to enforce. We will be in communication soon with parents about how we can do this well without breaking any requirements and jeopardising health for players and volunteers.
We obviously also don’t want to place the club at any risk financially due to fines etc because we didn’t do this well.
We require some more time to plan to do this well.
We know the kids are eager to get out on the field. We will do all we can to ensure that happens safely and within the requirements laid out for us.
Thanks for your understanding.
All in all, we still really don’t know where all this will land or if there will be any games or not, but we are keen to get fit and be ready.
Parents and players, please be in contact with your team managers and coaches and keep an eye out for further announcements. For our faithful sponsors and supporters we will do our best to keep you informed as we discover more. Our website is the primary source of information and will be the first place notices and announcements are made.
A big thank you to our club Vice President and president for ensuring COVID hygiene measures were prepared and players maintained distancing requirements. Key club personnel have all undertaken COVID safe training to ensure your club is a safe place.
It’s still “one week at a time” and we are working towards keeping players and spectators safe and hopefully seeing some football.
The management committee continue to consider our response and requirements wisely and timely. We aren’t rushing any decisions but measuring our response and listening to state and federal bodies for advice and responding in the interests of players and also our club.
For more information on return to play protocols please see the SANFL website – https://sanfl.com.au/returntoplay/
The Strathalbyn Football Club encourage players, parents, sponsors and supporters to download the COVIDsafe app.
Again, please keep looking to support local businesses and watching out for one another as we grow a stronger Strathalbyn community.
