Strathalbyn female football has seen a lot of talented players don the red and white over its journey. None are more decorated than skipper Morgan Tucker.
Hailing from Langhorne Creek, Tucks jumped at the opportunity to play female football close to home. Tucker led the Lady Roosters to their first flag in their inaugural season. Playing mainly as a forward / mid, Tuckers skills and smarts led her to claim the inaugural Adelaide women’s football league division 5 crown.
Her stellar season saw her selected in South Adelaides inaugural SANFLW side. Tucker experienced some hardships along the way with niggling injuries taking a toll on her, however made sure she still gave her all week in week out.
Tucker’s leadership and knack for hitting the scoreboard saw her not only selected in the GSFLW’s very first association side kicking 4 goals. She was then selected in the inaugural Southen Districts women’s side that competed at the first SA Country Champs in the Riverland finishing runners up.
Morgan Tucker will go down as one of the best Lady Roosters to pull on the red and white. A physio by trade, Tucker has always supported her teammates in preparing, maintaining and recovering from the rigours of female football.
None are more proud than former coach Darcy Springhall “Morgs gives more to the game and the club than people give her credit for. A loyal, selfless and driven individual. I’m so rapt for her to reach this milestone and look forward to watching her progress even further in her career. She has a lot left to give”.
