This year, 2019, marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of the former sporting complex, led by the Ken Haines administration, establishing a substantial platform towards what the club is today.
The completion of those new facilities represented the vision, courage, and tireless energy that regenerated a struggling footy club to become a leader in the GSFL.
Opened in 1979 the club’s 100th year, by Reg Montgomery and Councillor Leon O’Driscoll, the footy club’s new profile was a major injection of enthusiasm and public interest. This new energy flowed over to the onfield playing groups resulting in all 5 teams competing on grand final day.
Successes for the A grade, Senior Colts, and Mini Colts, and runner up for the Reserves and Junior Colts was good cause to celebrate 100yrs and a rather special year.
If you played or officiated in one of the 1979 grand final games, You and your partner are invited back to the club to celebrate 140 years and revisit the special memories of our centenary 1979 achievements.
To be held June 1st in the Long Room of the Strathalbyn Football Club to commence 1pm for drinks and finger food.
The club is also open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening for meals from 6pm.
Please RSVP with numbers attending by 11 May to Heather Harley 0409 695 954 or email@example.com
