Junior Colts – Strathalbyn Football Club

2020 Playing Program

admin — Thu, 18 Jun 2020 01:55:56 +0000

It is great we will be soon able to hit the playing surface with our war paint on ready to take on the 2020 season.

As we know, the season has been shortened and has some crowd restrictions in place. We will communicate the implications of this in the next week or so. At this stage, the crowds will be limited to 500. This does not include players, staff, volunteers, or officials.

We will be sending out a roster request soon for different tasks for our 4 home games. If you want to guarantee your spot at the football, make sure you get on a roster!

BUT, here is the 2020 program for you to peruse and print. I have highlighted all of the Strath games for easy reference.

See you at the footy!

SANFL update: SANFLW, SANFL Juniors, AFL Auskick &
Community Football

SANFL today announced the postponement of the 2020 Statewide Super Women’s League until May 31 and strongly recommended that all Community Football competitions across South Australia also be postponed until that date.

In addition, SANFL has postponed National Pharmacies SANFL Juniors and NAB AFL Auskick until May 31.

The 2020 SANFL U16 Torrens University Cup, which commenced two weeks ago, has been cancelled.

Today’s decision is consistent with the earlier postponement of the men’s Statewide Super League and state talent programs as a measure to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.

SANFL CEO Jake Parkinson said the health and well-being of fans, players, umpires, officials and communities has been the number one priority throughout this decision-making process.

He said SANFL Club CEOs were supportive of the League’s decision to postpone the Women’s League competition, due to play Round 5 this weekend.

In line with a national decision on Community Football by the AFL, SANFL is strongly recommending that all affiliated leagues in SA cease any play until May 31, including training.

SANFL will continue to review these decisions based on the changing circumstances and advice from government and relevant health authorities.

“The recommendation to all affiliated leagues was collectively agreed upon due to the nature of shared public facilities across community football clubs and the health and safety of football’s volunteer network,” Mr Parkinson said.

SANFL is continuing to work with all affiliated Community Football leagues to provide ongoing support during this extremely challenging time.

COVID-19 Update (2:05pm 17 March)

admin — Tue, 17 Mar 2020 07:18:43 +0000

The Strathalbyn Football Club advises that ALL football training has been suspended until further notice.

This recommendation has been implemented by your club on advice from the GSFL.

Please note that this implementation is not exclusive to SFC and is a blanket precautionary community health measure. Other GSFL clubs have made or are making the same announcement today. There is no known or suspected instance of COVID-19 within the SFC Community at this time.

We expect a series of formal announcements to be released by the GSFL and SANFL over the next 24-48 hours regarding Community Football.

We will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

S.F.C. COLTS OFFICIALS

From the inception of the Strathalbyn Colts in 1957, as a Schoolboys Under 14 team initially, administrative matters were handled by the SFC General Committee via a Colts Manager.

When the Strathalbyn Football Club joined the GSFL in 1963, only one Colts grade (under 16 years as at 1^st January) existed.

In 1968 this was divided into Senior Colts (under 16 years) and Junior Colts (under 13 years) grades.

Rather surprisingly Strathalbyn did not field a Junior Colts team in 1968 because of ” A lack of officials “.

A separate SFC Colts Committee was instigated for the commencement of season 1968.

The GSFL amended the Senior Colts Grade to Under 17 years and the Junior Colts Grade to Under 14 years for the commencement of the 1977 season.
