Again the club house was full as all and sundry celebrated a good day out on the park and the banter was cheerful. The group, as the ate there wonderfully prepared meals, were also anticipating a big night in as the dress code changed from footy colours to racing finery. Yes people were getting ready for the 2013 Strathalbyn Football Club “Garwoods” Mouse Cup. With the mice in training for this night during the weeks leading up to this prestigious event and the track being declared dry it looked like a great nights racing ahead.

With the first race, the Australian Saltworks Scurry, bidding was slow for the field as punters felt their way on this maiden race. The winner was the bolter Not So Harding as it shot out of the gates and hurtled to the winning line.

When the Roosters win against Willunga it is always great and winning at Willunga is fantastic but the finish to the game on Saturday was something else.

What a quarter of footy, even though Peckings was there and saw it unfold it still seems one of the most amazing ways to end a footy game you could ever imagine. With the Roosters down by 5 goals at the start of the last stanza, after Willunga had lifted, after what had been a fairly even game up to half time, to another level kicking 6 goals in the third quarter to look like they were fully in charge of the game. The Redmen took a hit with the Demons kicking the first goal in the last quarter.
